Pediatric Nursing Excellence AwardThe Society of Pediatric Nurses supports the delivery of high-quality, developmentally appropriate nursing care to pediatric patients and their families. To help define what constitutes the best possible pediatric nursing care, SPN released the Pediatric Nursing Excellence Model in 2022. The model is comprised of the following five domains of excellence:
Demonstrate Your Unit's Pediatric Nursing ExcellenceUsing the Pediatric Nursing Excellence Model as a framework, we’re excited to launch the Pediatric Nursing Excellence award! The award has three levels: Platinum, Sapphire, and Diamond, differentiated by which components of the model that are successfully demonstrated. The application for this award is broken down into six sections: one section for each of the five domains plus a section for demographic data about the unit. Units will be awarded the Pediatric Nursing Excellence Award for successfully demonstrating and meeting the criteria for each item within each section. All inpatient acute care pediatric units and hospital based pediatric units (such as PICU, NICU, peds ER, PACU/SDS, etc.), within the United States are eligible to apply, and each unit should consider which award level is right for them. Each successful unit will receive a plaque to display within your unit, recognition in SPN publications, at the annual conference, a marketing kit with a banner template to promote your unit, a letter sent to your unit or hospital leadership, and upon request a virtual presentation of the award to your unit by SPN leadership.
